Good afternoon all!
We started off a little slow in the first two innings, but we kicked up a notch starting in the 3rd inning!
We had 3 of our Spartans go 3 for 3 at the plate last night!
Quinton, Carson and Caelen!
Quinton had 1 single and 2 doubles.
Caelen had 2 singles and a triple.
Carson had 2 singles and a double and led the team in RBI's with 4.
Jackson and Derek each went 2 for 3.
Jackson had a single and a double.
Derek had 2 singles.
Everyone else went 1 for 3!
Bareden Jallo recorded a double. This is a little deceptive in that he hit in our 5th run that inning, and the umpires stopped him at 2nd. It could have been a triple, or possibly even a homerun.
We also made some great plays in the field!
Ethan made a great throw from Pitcher to 1st to record the first put out of the game.
Caelen was a beast at 1st Base making several outs.
Carson made a nice play on a grounder at Short Stop and tagged the runner trying to head to 3rd!
The boys made good throws from the outfield, and all of our Catchers did a great job behind the plate!
Congrats to the boys on a good First win!
Have a great day!
The 11U Red Spartans came out ready to play on Monday night. The bats were hot and the defense was much improved. The boys all hit well with Zach and Nate hitting inside the park home runs, Carstens and Connor with triples, and Grant with a deep left field double! The defense had only a handful of errors. The pitchers and catchers did an excellent job and interpreting pitch calls and executing their roles. It was a great way to start the FBSA Spring Season. We have practice on Wednesday at Bacchus 4 at 7:30 and a tournament at Triple Creek this weekend. Let's play ball!
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu won over a lot of fans by playing catch with a kid--"Deuce"--in the stands during batting practice before a Dodger game this week. "Deuce" actually has a pretty good arm himself. See it here: http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Sports/2013/05/15/Dodgers-Making-Fans-Hyun-Jin-Ryu-Matt-Kemp
Just over a week ago, Dodger outfielder Matt Kemp literally took the uniform off his back and gave it to a fan--along with his cap and cleats--who is suffering from terminal cancer. See it here:
Special thanks to James Frazer, Coach of Spartans 11U Navy team for the links!

However, the team was still able to donate some toys to help the Toys for Tots program. Nice work parents and players - thanks for helping those kids less fortunate in our community!

Jeremy currently plays for the LA Dodgers organization. He was drafted in the 4th round by the Boston Red Sox. He has played at every minor league level from A to AAA. In the offseason of 2013, he was traded from the Boston red Sox to the LA Dodgers. Jeremy will be working the other NTX Spartan development coaches and helping to conduct some offseason fielding and batting clinics which will be announced shortly.
Ryan just recently retired from playing baseball. He was drafted as a pitcher in the 18th round by the Texas Rangers in 2005 and he played for A, AA, and AAA teams including the Frisco Roughriders. In 2010, he was traded with Tanner Roark to the Washington Nationals for Christian Guzman. Thereafter, he played with the Hanwha Eagles in Korea until he recently retired.
